Why Loma Vista?

Loma Vista Elementary School is a generational school, serving students in preschool through grade five since 1952.  Many of our current students were proceeded by their parents before them, and even their grandparents in some cases!  There is a rich shared history here at Loma Vista, which we honor through the good work we do in preparing students for each successive phase of their educational journeys.  

Loma Vista continues to redefine itself utilizing an outside-in approach.  We put our students first at Loma Vista, and tailor our approach in the development of extracurricular programs to foster growth, enrichment, a sense of belonging.  We endeavor to help our students develop positive relationships with peers and teachers, to refine prosocial and adaptive behaviors, and to embrace the spirit of collaboration, which will serve them throughout their lives.   Loma Vista distinguishes itself through the prioritization of multiple enrichments and extracurricular activities for students to engage in beyond the bell, which are interest driven and cultivate a richer learning environment for all.

Academically, Loma Vista students outperform state and district averages on summative state testing, in comparison to their grade a like peers, year after year. The California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP), which may be found here, https://caaspp-elpac.cde.ca.gov/caaspp/ speaks to our exceptional educators leading classroom curriculum, our supportive and active parents, and the work ethic and academic culture in which our students are authentically engaged. 

Loma Vista also holds the distinction of offering the only Total Communication (TC) program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in the county of Ventura for over 40 years!  Total communication is a philosophy in which students are assured equal access to their education both in and out of the classroom, and are provided with a language rich environment using both spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL).
